Springfield celebrates Dr. Seuss

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts wished Dr. Seuss, happy birthday on Saturday.

Dr. Seuss Theodor Geisel was born 110 years ago on Sunday in Springfield, not far from the Dr. Seuss garden at the Springfield Museums Quadrangle. Parents who brought their children to this nostalgic event had been raised on Dr. Seuss’s legendary books.

John Krstyan of Springfield told 22News, “Of course, you read it in school, growing up I read it to my own daughter, just showing here all the history of it, it’s just a wonderful thing.”

Although Theodor Geisel passed away in 1991 at the age of 87, his legacy lives on in the Dr. Seuss stories that have entertained and uplifted generations of children.
