Springfield Police uncover marijuana growing operation

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police say they discovered a sophisticated marijuana growing operation while answering a domestic disturbance call.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News police found more than 160 marijuana plants growing in the basement of the home at 129 Appleton Street overnight Thursday.

Police arrested 34-year old Son Hong Nguyen on multiple charges including cultivating marijuana and domestic assault and battery.  Detectives estimated the grow to be valued at $100 thousand.
