Layoffs at Yankee Candle headquarters

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Yankee Candle is announcing some layoffs at their South Deerfield headquarters.

Company CEO Harlan Kent told 22News that the layoffs will affect less than two percent of the company’s staff in South Deerfield. The company maintains its headquarters and flagship store there, and also has a factory in Whately.

“We are realigning our resources with our growth priorities, and unfortunately have eliminated some positions at our headquarters,” Kent said in a statement sent to 22News

Kent said that they saw an increase in revenue in 2013, and that they plan for growth this year. He added that overall, they will actually add more people to their workforce this year.

“On a total company basis, net position adds will outnumber reductions this year,” he said.
