WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – West Springfield town leaders want to make sure the Gaming Commission hears their concerns when they meet on Monday.
The Town Council met tonight to discuss how their community will be impacted if MGM builds a resort casino just across the river. Town Councilor Brian Griffin told 22News there are more West Springfield residents than Springfield residents who will be directly impacted by the proposed casino.
“50% of our population is going to be directly impacted, whereas almost 70% of Springfield will not be impacted, but they’ll have all the resources, as far as the money goes, in Springfield,” said Griffin.
The Gaming Commission meeting for surrounding communities is scheduled for Monday, at 4:00 PM, at the West Springfield Middle School.
