About the Exhibit:
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Dr. Seuss’s second book, The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, the Hats off to Dr. Seuss! exhibition combines two secret collections. Audrey S. Geisel, the widow of Dr. Seuss, has generously opened up the Estate’s legendary “hat closet” to allow the public a peek at Dr. Seuss’s hat collection. We are honored to have the opportunity to exhibit this collection in Northampton, MA, just 15 minutes from the Dr. Seuss National Memorial, and Ted Geisel’s boyhood home. Hats Off to Dr. Seuss! is an incomparable exhibition as this is the first time any of these hats have traveled outside the Seuss Estate. The exhibition will also feature Dr. Seuss’s Secret Art collection, a series of Estate authorized works adapted from Ted Geisel’s original drawings, paintings, and sculpture. This historic collection has opened the world’s eyes to the extraordinary artistic talent of Dr. Seuss and will be available for viewing and purchase through the run of the exhibition at R. Michelson Galleries.
The Hats Off to Dr. Seuss! exhibition provides a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to view a selection of original hats collected by Dr. Seuss over a period of 60 years.
