Family forced out by fire, alleged utility theft

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield family has been ordered out of their Pine Point neighborhood home after a fire and an alleged theft of electrical and water services.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that there was an electrical fire in the cellar of the home at 91 Ambrose Street around 10:00 Wednesday morning.

The Red Cross is assisting the two adults and two children who live there.

Springfield Code Enforcement Deputy Director Dave Cotter told 22News both the electrical and water meters had been bypassed. According to Cotter, the home has been condemned and can’t be lived in until electrical and water connections are legally restored.
