SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Many of us are looking ahead to spring, but Tuesday morning, the Spirit of Springfield looked back at their Bright Nights success this past holiday season.
City leaders, event sponsors, designers of the light display, and the crew that installs and maintains it each year were at the Sheraton downtown for an appreciation event.
Dennis Bell of Carpenter Decorating is among those behind the dazzling lights.
“We did some designs and the rest is history,” Bell said. “It’s amazing, it never stops. Most people get tired of it: it’s too much work, the light show goes away. Not here.”
As Bright Nights heads into its 20th year, organizers unveiled its anniversary logo and also a new commercial that takes you through the holiday display from the eyes of a child.
Bright Nights has received national attention, and draws 200,000 people to Springfield each season.
