BOSTON (NBC) – Kacey Bellamy of Westfield and the rest of the U.S. women’s hockey team arrived in Boston from the Sochi Olympics Monday afternoon.
Family and friends welcomed the team and coaches at Boston’s Logan Airport.
Team USA took home the silver medal after a heartbreaking loss to Canada in overtime.
Team members said messages from back home were appreciated and helped raise their spirits.
They said they’re proud of what they accomplished and had a wonderful time in Sochi.
“Lasting memories. Meeting all the different athletes, spending time with my teammates,” team member Michelle Picard said. “We had a blast out there. And you know, tough outcome, but I’ll remember the time with my teammates for sure.”
The team said they’re looking forward to getting some rest, relaxation and home cooking.
