SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Here in Western Massachusetts brush fire alerts are hardly common in the dead of winter.
That’s why Springfield firefighters weren’t surprised to instead find a car on fire early Sunday morning, some three hundred feet from Riverside Road near the bicycle trail in the North End.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News, for the past thirty years the flood dike wall near the Connecticut River has been the place of choice for many who’ve set fire to cars with a degree of secrecy.
This latest case of car arson involved a 1992 Accura Legend. The second case of car arson this weekend.
