HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – There’s a lot of federal financial aid for college bound Western Massachusetts students. 22News is working to show you how parents went about getting a piece of that financial pie.
Holyoke Community College was one of many Massachusetts campuses where families went for the help they hope will cut through the maze of paperwork and procedures.
Even though some parents have been through this before helping their sons and daughters finance their college education, a refresher course is always helpful.
Brad DiMiero of Ware told 22News, “I’ve already got two kids gooing through college, but, I think it’s better to have professional help the correct way.”
Help is what they got from a small army of volunteers, all well versed in student financial aid and what it takes to get that money.
“Well my daughter, Mary, is entering college next year and we were just looking into what’s available. I saw the registration papers we got the information from our own high school in Longmeadow. I was having a little difficulty with the financial aid, so I need help on how to fill the financial sections,” said Sean Miller of Longmeadow.
In addition to Holyoke Community College, parents could also attend these financial aid sessions in Springfield, Amherst, Pittsfield and Turners Falls.
