Sex offender arrested again for child rape

BRIMFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A convicted child rapist has been arrested again, after he allegedly sexually assaulted a minor several times from the fall of 2013 until January.

Daniel Burnett, 51, of Brimfield, was arrested by state troopers on Thursday, following an investigation into the alleged abuse.

According to a news release sent to 22News by State Police Media Relations, Burnett was given a sentence of eight to 10 years in prison after being convicted in 1993 of multiple counts of rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child.

He was registered as a level three sex offender following his release from prison.

State police say that in this new case, the assaults are alleged to have happened at Burnett’s home.

He is being charged with six counts of rape and abuse of a child, and six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
