Pair denies stealing from ambulance service

A married couple has been arraigned on charges that they stole almost a quarter million dollars from an ambulance service that serves several northern Berkshire County communities.

Albert Miller and Cara Miller of Williamstown were released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Wednesday to charges including larceny.

The couple is charged with stealing about $240,000 from Village Ambulance Service between 2006 and 2011 while they worked for the nonprofit that provides service for Williamstown, Hancock, New Ashford, daytime service for Pownal, Vt. and mutual aid for Adams and North Adams.

The 59-year-old Albert Miller was the service’s general manager.

A defense lawyer tells The Berkshire Eagle  that the Millers have cooperated with investigators and “are looking forward to an appropriate outcome.”
