HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – An emergency meeting has been called after employees at the Geriatric Authority of Holyoke were notified they wouldn’t get their paychecks on time.
Tyrone Housey, the nurse’s union president, told the 22News I-Team getting paid 5 days late is unacceptable and they’re considering their legal options.
“They live paycheck to paycheck and its a hardship for our members. We’ve been there for 30-years representing the Geriatric employees so we want to do everything we can to help them out,” said Housey.
Holyoke Geriatric Authority employees didn’t get their paychecks on Thursday, and they say they’re not buying management’s excuses. They were told they’ll have to wait until Tuesday.
Housey says they’re being told it was a computer error but he doesn’t think that’s true and they want answers.
22News went to the center Thursday to try to get more answers but were turned away.
The union will be meeting at 2:15 p.m. Friday.
