LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – State Police have re-opened all lanes on the westbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike between Exits 8 and 7 in Ludlow after being shut down Tuesday afternoon.

On their official Twitter account, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation tweeted that the highway was closed near the 58 mile marker due to an accident. That was near the bridge over the Chicopee River from Wilbraham.

Around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, MassDOT tweeted that all lanes were re-opened.

22News contacted State Police in Charlton, and additional details about the cause of the closure were not available.

State Police have been reporting multiple accidents statewide as a winter storm has moved into the area.

The speed limit has been reduced to 40 miles per hour all the way from the New York state line into Boston.
