Charges possible after Greenfield kidnapping report

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – What started as a report of a kidnapping in Greenfield turned out to be a possible false report.

Greenfield Police Lt. Todd Dodge told 22News that at 2:00 Monday morning, a woman said she was being held against her will in Hartford, Connecticut with threats being made against her life.

According to Lt. Dodge, the woman reported that she had been taken during her work shift at Charlene Manor in Greenfield. After hours of work by a number of law enforcement agencies in two states, Lt. Dodge said that the alleged victim and another man termed the incident a “misunderstanding.”

Dodge said that police are looking into possibly charging the complainant with filing a false report.
