BLANDFORD, Mass. (WWLP) – With new snow falling almost daily, skiers filled the slopes at the start of the Presidents Day weekend as they do every year at this time.
Mike Finn of West Springfield brought his whole family for a day of skiing at Blandford.
“Well we’re lucky enough be season ticket holders so we try to get up here every weekend. It’s been great so far during the last few weekends with all the snow it’s been fantastic,” said Mike Finn.
Apparently go don’t have to be a veteran skier to enjoy all the slopes have to offer. Jason Doyle of Chicopee told 22News, he’s sort of getting his feet so to speak.
“It was my first time here, this is probably the fourth time I’m skiing, somewhat new, but the trails are nice and it’s been a lot of fun so far. A good buddy of mine is a veteran they had a promotion going on ski free with a veteran so we took advantage of the opportunity,” said Jason Doyle.
Respect for the military meant every skier would stop what they were doing and snap to attention.
Snowboarders were also well represented during this holiday time at Blandford. They were just as impressed with the new snow as were the skiers.
“I’ve been a member of Blandford for seven years. and the conditions are phenomenal. The snow is so soft and it’s super to be here,” said Ed Whalley of West Springfield.
One skier told 22News, real snow is always preferred to man made, and the way winter’s been going so far, the fluffy stuff will continue to be in good supply right through the season.
