Animal cruelty alleged in Wilbraham incident

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty connected to a domestic incident in a Wilbraham home Tuesday.

Wilbraham Police Sgt. Mark Paradis told 22News a woman walked into police headquarters Tuesday and reported that she had been physically assaulted during an argument in her home, and her Papillon dog was injured when it was thrown.

Police Officer Lawrence Rich went to the house in question to speak with the man, who Sgt. Edward Lennon identified as Nathan Torretti, 38, of Wilbraham. He was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery, and cruelty to an animal.

The dog was brought to Boston Road Animal Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
