Decision on future of Rintala case expected Tues.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – We are expecting an update Tuesday on the murder case against Cara Rintala, the woman accused of killing her wife at their Granby home back in 2010.

Judge Mary Lou Rup declared a second mistrial in the case last week, when the jury once again failed to reach a verdict.

We could find out Tuesday whether prosecutors will put Rintala on trial for a third time.

The main prosecutor in the case, Assistant District Attorney Steven Gagne, said that nothing legally prevents them from trying Rintala over and over until the jury makes a decision.
