Western Mass. land owners concerned about possible gas pipeline

MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – Some Franklin County homeowners are concerned about a possible natural gas pipeline crossing their land.

Several property owners attended Monday night’s Montague Select Board meeting hoping to learn more about preliminary plans for an expanded Tennessee Gas Pipeline.

The company has contacted several Franklin County land owners asking for permission to survey their property.

Laura Chapdelaine, who owns land in Montague, told 22News, “They haven’t given us any information on how big the project is, how long it would take, what would be involved, and the risks. So at this point it’s just to get more information before we can even take a stand.”

According to the Greenfield Recorder, the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company hopes to have an expanded gas pipeline up and running in time for the 2018 heating season, if all goes smoothly with the permitting process.
