Bicyclist injured after being hit by car

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – A 20 year-old UMass student has been taken to the hospital, after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle.

According to a news release sent to 22News by the Amherst Police Department, the bicyclist was struck around 7:30 Sunday night near the intersection of Northampton Road and University Drive.

The cyclist was taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment, but the extent of her injuries is not known at this time.

Amherst Police and the Massachusetts State Police Reconstruction Unit are investigating the accident.
