BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Police say 53-year-old man is in critical condition after collapsing and losing consciousness while shoveling snow for a neighbor in Bridgeport.
Police said on Saturday that officers were in the area of Cottage Street when a woman flagged them down while standing next to a man who was lying on the ground. The victim did not have a pulse and the officers performed CPR while awaiting the arrival of medical workers.
He was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where medical workers were able to regain a pulse.
Officers Damien Csech and Matthew Goncalves, who initially helped the man, say they are glad the man is still alive.
Bridgeport Police Chief Joseph Gaudett Jr. says he is proud of the two officers, adding that he is not sure they comprehend what they did.
