(WWLP) – The weather may have been keeping you indoors a lot this winter, but now there area few reasons to get out and enjoy the season.
Starting Friday, two Western Massachusetts winter festivals begin.
In Holyoke, the 10-day-long, 3rd annual Holyoke Winter Carnival begins Friday night, at Community Field. The kick-off event will feature more than 1,000 lanterns lighting the way to the ice skating rink. There will also hot chocolate and a theatre performance. The rest of the weekend will celebrate the Olympic spirit with several sporting events including a hockey tournament and a curling demonstration.
In Easthampton, the two-day festival includes a film festival, horse drawn wagon rides, storytelling and more. Friday’s kick-off will be at Easthampton High School auditorium starting at 7 P.M. Many of the weekend’s events are free, but tickets are $25 for the full evening of Friday’s performances. Ticket proceeds will go towards the Nashawannuck Pond restoration projects.
Easthampton’s city arts website has a list of events, times and locations.
