HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Thursday’s snow storm and Friday’s colder weather came just in time for Holyoke’s third annual Winter Carnival.
The Holyoke Winter Carnival is billed as a 10 day city-wide celebration of family-friendly winter festivities and community pride. The opening night featured open skating, hot chocolate and music at Community Field.
Pete LeClerc, the Holyoke recreation supervisor, told 22News, “It’s a great time to get out. People are cooped up a lot in the winter time, and Community field is built for a four season park. We have picnics and pavilions in the summer and sledding and ice skating in the winter. What better place to have a winter carnival than the city of Holyoke”
The carnival features two themed weekends. This weekend includes a hockey tournament, a curling demonstration and a family day at Heritage State park.
