BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut panhandler has been charged with felony assault after police say he stabbed a man who refused to give him spare change and told him to get a job.
Forty-one-year-old Dwayne “Crab” Upchurch was arrested in Bridgeport Thursday on a second-degree assault charge.
Police told the Connecticut Post that a 49-year-old man was walking in Bridgeport on Nov. 22 when Upchurch asked him for some change.
Police say the victim refused and told Upchurch to get a job before Upchurch stabbed him twice in his chest.
The victim was treated at Bridgeport Hospital and recovered.
It’s not clear if Upchurch has a lawyer.
