PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – First on 22News, the land owners in Palmer where Mohegan Sun wanted to build a casino, are trying to pinpoint exactly when Mohegan Sun began talking with Suffolk Downs.
The 22News I-Team obtained a copy of a public records request sent to Revere’s mayor asking for copies of correspondence between Revere and Moehgan.
The thinking is that the land owners, Northeast Realty, are trying to build a case against Mohegan Sun for potentially breaking an exclusivity agreement with them.
After losing a casino referendum in Palmer, Mohegan Sun has since partnered with Suffolk Downs in Revere to compete for the eastern Massachusetts casino license.
Mohegan Sun is five years into a 99 years lease on that land in Palmer.
What’s unclear is if Mohegan Sun was able to break that agreement on their own and if so when?
