Drivers urged to stay off roads

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) –  Governor Deval Patrick has advised people to avoid driving if they are able to do so.

Plow trucks are doing their best to keep up with clearing the roadways, but many main roads are slippery, and some of the side roads are just completely covered in snow.

In Agawam and several other western Massachusetts communities, no on-street parking is being allowed. Click here for a complete list of area parking bans.

The storm’s pinnacle of intensity is expected to come between 7:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. It won’t be like the other storms we have seen this year, which have consisted of light, fluffy snow; this will be the heavy, wet variety.

Utility crews are on standby in the event of power outages, but there have been no outages reported in the area as of 6:30 A.M.
