NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The snow is coming down at a steady pace across western Massachusetts, and that is making the morning commute quite difficult.
As of 5:30 A.M., there was about 1” of snow coating Main Street in downtown Northampton. The inch of snow came down in only about one hour’s time; giving you an idea of how rapidly it is accumulating. The snow will only become heavier as the morning goes on.
Crews are out clearing the roads, but with the steady nature of this snow, things will still be very slippery for your morning commute. In addition to the accumulation, the steadiness of the snow is reducing visibility, making driving even more difficult.
Due to the conditions, Easthampton police have closed Mountain Road (Route 141).
No major accidents were reported by Massachusetts State Police as of 5:30 A.M., but stay with 22News throughout the day for the latest updates.
