Voters can check registration status online

Before, people had to go to the city/town clerk

BOSTON (STATE HOUSE NEW SERVICE) – Massachusetts voters can now check their voter registration status online, Secretary of State William Galvin announced Tuesday.

“Voters who go on this site can, by entering their name, date of birth and zip code, check on their voter registration status and party enrollment,” Galvin said in a statement. “Before this, they had to go to their city or town clerk for that information, which my office finds is the most frequent election time inquiry that election officials get.”

On the site, voters must also check a box “agreeing that the information is intended only for use by that individual in determining voter status and that any attempted access to information that is exempt from public disclosure to anyone other than the voter may subject the user to criminal prosecution or civil liability.”
