NEW YORK CITY (NBC News) The acting world is grieving the loss of Philip Seymour Hoffman, found dead Sunday of an apparent drug overdose.
His body was discovered by a friend who’d stopped by after Hoffman failed to meet up with his kids.
The 46-year-old Academy Award winning actor spent much of his adulthood battling drug addiction.
Last year, after more than 20 years of sobriety, he relapsed and entered rehab.
In a statement, his family said: “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil.”
