More cold city Super Bowls to come?

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Sunday night’s Super Bowl was the first time the game was played in an outdoor stadium in a northern state that has winter weather. 22News found out how many people would be willing to attend a cold Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl was held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this year. The New Jersey stadium is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets

This was the first time the Super Bowl was hosted by a state that has extreme winters. Now other northern states are looking to enter the bid in hosting the Super Bowl in the future.

Some people say the cold weather wouldn’t stop them from attending the biggest football game of the year.

“Oh sure, this is the way you want to watch football. the most people if you look at the ratings, the most highest rating games are the snow weather games,” said Phil Courtemanche of Greenfield.

Philadelphia, Washington, and New England are a few of the states that are making the case to host a future Super Bowl.

The New York /New Jersey committee raised 70 million dollars to host the Super Bowl this year.
