The Seattle Seahawks (43) defeated the Denver Broncos (8) in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

According to the Associated Press, “Record-setting offense versus relentlessly stingy defense. Coaches who actually smile, are quotable and think football should be fun. A wintry outdoor setting. And the two best teams in the NFL. The Super Bowl XLVIII has just about everything a fan, a player, a coach, and certainly a league, could ask for.”

The Seahawks and the Broncos were the top seeds in the their conference during the 2013 playoffs and in the past two decades this has only happened one other time in 2009 with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. Peyton Manning was the quarterback for the Colts then and lost to Drew Brees and the Saints.

The Broncos are making their 7th Super Bowl appearance, which ties the New England Patriots, whom they beat in the AFC Championship game. The Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game to make it to the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history; the first appearance ended with a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005. The Broncos on the other hand have not been to the Super Bowl since ’98 and ’99, when they won back to back championships with John Elway.
