Barn fire in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A barn burned to the ground. Westfield Deputy Fire Chief James Kane told 22News the fire started around 4 o’clock this afternoon, by the time they got there, the barn had already collapsed. It was in the area of 36 Southwick Road.

Deputy Chief Kane says people were burning in a 55 gallon drum and left. He says sparks from embers started the fire.

No one was hurt. It cause a large plume of black smoke that could be seen from miles away.
