Man shot in buttocks, suspects on the loose

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man is expected to be okay after he was shot in the buttocks at his home in Springfield’s Bay neighborhood early Friday morning, police say.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that police were called to the area of Cambridge and Burr Streets around 12:15 A.M., where they found a 19 year-old man who was shot in the buttocks.

The victim told police that he was inside his house at 52 Cambridge Street, when someone knocked at the door. After the door was opened, the victim says two masked men with guns came inside, and demanded that the victim hand over his “stuff.”

Delaney says that a fight started inside the apartment, and the victim ended up getting shot in the buttocks. The masked men ran away, with the victim chasing after them.

The victim denied to police that he deals any type of drugs, Delaney said.
