CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Chicopee has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Chicopee Police Capt. Daniel Sullivan told 22News that Jeffrey Nentwig, 38, of Chicopee was arrested at his Memorial Drive trailer home Thursday night, about two hours after a robbery he allegedly committed at a package store in East Windsor, Connecticut.

Sullivan says that in addition to the East Windsor robbery, Nentwig is accused of robbing the following five Chicopee stores this month:

  • January 9: Basics Plus Mini Mart, 190 East St.
  • January 10: Friendly Liquor Store, 65 Main St.
  • January 22: Hank’s Variety Store, 457 Granby Rd.
  • January 24: Westover Super Mart, 1782 Westover Rd.
  • January 28: Citgo station, 451 Grattan St.

Sullivan says Nentwig faces five counts each of armed robbery while armed and masked. He also faces a fugitive from justice charge for the East Windsor robbery.

In addition, according to a Suffield, Connecticut police news release sent to 22News, that department is planning to charge Nentwig with two additional counts of armed robbery for a hold-up Wednesday night at a Valero Gas Station/Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 159. In that robbery, Suffield police allege that he used a fake gun, and made off with more than $350 in cash.

Nentwig is also a suspect in a robbery in Enfield, Connecticut, Sullivan says.
