CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A super game requires super planning for the super party during the game Sunday night.
Even those who don’t follow sports have found out that Super Bowl Sunday is akin to a national holiday, complete with its own menu for celebration; in almost every aisle you’ll find a reminder.
Denver Bronco’s fan, Valerie Vigerita of Hampden, made the first of several shopping trips to the Big Y supermarket to prepare for her Super Bowl party.
Vigerita told 22News, “Chili, Nachos, little Italian stuff, meatball sliders.”
Caleb Sutter of Springfield has been invited to someone else’s party for the Big Game and he has some suggestions for his host.
“Got to have the pizza, got to have the wings, got to have some Nachos,” said Sutter.
Also, after eight years of helping pre-game shoppers, Christina LaPointe said she knows what makes a super menu.
“A lot of people like quick easy finger food. They want to watch the game, barbecue wings and buffalo wings are really,” said LaPointe.
Store Director Mary Ann Chiecko can pick from a store full of possibilities for her Sunday night party. However, over the years she’s narrowed her menu to a few favorites.
“Chili, everyone likes chili, that’s a big hit with us and I make a Jalapeño corn bread to go with it,” said Chiecko.
Store employees filling big party orders expect to be the busiest between 2 o’clock until 5 o’clock on Sunday afternoon.
