WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - In case you haven't heard, the Super Bowl is Sunday in New Jersey.
The 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield is responsible for protecting the air space in the Northeast. 22News discovered that Super Bowl or not, their mission doesn’t change much.
“I think there’s other units taking care of the alert or the flying mission for that event. We’re going to be doing our normal, normal stuff here this weekend”, says Col. James Keefe, Barnes Air National Guard, 104th Fighter Wing.
The 104th Fighter Wing returned to Westfield in December, after staying at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee for five months while the runway at Barnes was repaired.
