SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The temperatures are cold, but following a series of auto thefts, police are urging you to resist the temptation to leave your car running with the keys inside.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, a 2000 Chevy Tahoe SUV was stolen from a driveway on Wellington Street Wednesday afternoon, after the victim left it running to warm it up.

On Tuesday morning, a woman had her 2011 Hyundai Tucson stolen while she was warming it up outside an apartment on Beacon Circle.

More information about the stolen cars is available on the Springfield Police Department Facebook page.
