Rail yard worker seriously injured in accident

DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) -  A rail yard worker was seriously injured in an accident in Deerfield late Tuesday morning.

Deerfield Police Sgt. Harry Ruddock told 22News the 43-year old employee of Pan Am Railways  suffered “lower extremity injuries” while working near the locomotives and cars around 11:45 Tuesday morning.

The injured employee was flow by helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.   Police would not elaborate on the nature of the employee’s injuries and the condition of the patient is unknown at this time.
