SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a busy night for Springfield Police Officers and Detectives who are now investigating two armed robberies and an armed home invasion Monday.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, the first armed robbery happened around 7:20 p.m. at the “Spring Valley Foods” market on Allen Street in the Forest Park area.

The store clerk ran out of the store and waved down two officers who were patrolling in a marked cruiser, said Sgt. Delaney. The officers started to chase after two robbery suspects after the clerk informed them which direction he saw them getaway.

Sgt. Delaney said the chase ended near the TD Bank on Sumner Ave. The two suspects in the car ran across the street and officers followed on foot. Both were arrested near Sorrento Street.

An hour after the “Spring Valley Foods” robbery, around 8:15 p.m., Springfield police were called to another armed robbery on Canon Circle. Police are still searching for the two men who committed the robbery with hand guns.

Then around 8:30 p.m. there was an armed home invasion at 70 Garcia Street. Springfield Police Lt. Alberto Ayala told 22News two masked men with handguns burst into the house. Police are still looking for the home invasion suspects also.

As for the “Spring Valley Food” robbers, officers recovered a fully loaded .357 Magnum from one of the masked suspects; a 17-years-old and considered a juvenile.

The getaway driver was a female and identified as 43-year-old Tameeka Zuvers-Crews age 43 of West Springfield, said Sgt. Delaney.

Zuvers-Crews will be charged with the following:

  • Armed Robbery
  • Armed Robbery while masked
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm in the commission of a Felony
  • Possession of Ammo

Zuvers-Crews will be held in police lock up over night and will be arraigned in Springfield District Court Tuesday morning.

There have been a few armed robberies in the Forest Park area in the past two weeks. Detectives are investigating to see if these subjects are responsible for them all.
