HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - It was a night of celebration in the city of Holyoke.
Friends, colleagues and supporters of Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse gathered at the Log Cabin in Holyoke for a night of dinner and dancing. This is the mayor’s second inaugural ball; in November, he defeated challenger Jeffrey Stanek and received 54% of the vote.
22News caught up with Mayor Morse who outlined some of his goals for this term.
Morse said, “We’ll begin construction on our passenger rail platform, so you can take a trail through downtown Holyoke. We’ll start construction on phase 2 of the canal walk. We’re going to start renovating the old Holyoke Catholic High School into 55 apartments, renovate a few new parks in the city in the summer.”
Morse is the city’s 37th mayor and is also the youngest to even be elected as the city’s mayor.
