US Marshals: Fugitive found hiding in daughter’s closet

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A fugitive wanted out of Pennsylvania was found hiding inside his daughter’s bedroom closet in Holyoke Friday morning, U.S. Marshals say.

According to a news release sent to 22News by the agency, Juan Thomas Vidal, 33, was wanted by officials in Scranton, Pennsylvania on multiple heroin and cocaine charges. An investigation by U.S. Marshals led them to an believe the suspect was living at an apartment at 551 South Bridge Street.

With that information, between 6:00 and 7:00 Tuesday US Marshals, along with Holyoke and Springfield police, raided the South Holyoke apartment. During their search, Dave Milne of the U.S. Marshals Service says they found the 6’4″ 250 lb. suspect inside a bedroom closet. He was peacefully taken into custody.

Vidal is currently being held by Holyoke police as a fugitive from justice, but will eventually be returned to Pennsylvania to face charges there.
