Teen found guilty in assaulting troopers

Sumner has to be subdued with pepper spray

(WWLP) – A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in jail for assaulting two state troopers attempting to frisk him during a routine traffic stop.

Tyler Sumner of Pittsfield was sentenced Wednesday after he was found guilty of charges including assault and battery on a police officer and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

Prosecutors say Sumner had to be subdued with pepper spray after he knocked down one trooper and punched another in October.
