NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds gathered in Northampton Friday night to support a business destroyed by a fire in Hadley last year.
Mi Tierra was destroyed in the plaza fire in Hadley last October and on Friday people gathered at the Garden House at Look Park to raise money for the rebuilding. Businesses donated items to be auctioned off, there was music and dancing.
People who worked at the restaurant say the best part is the event sold out.
“They were a successful family, they stayed true to their ideals, Jorge did everything possible to have the freshest ingredients, most authentic Mexican cuisine in the area and I think it shows,” said Mi Tierra bar manager Derek Gavegnano. “It’s a testament to their family business this many people are here tonight.”
The family hopes to rebuild the restaurant soon and will re-open under the same name.
