GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Five years into his presidency, researchers found people consider President Obama a nice guy, but only a so-so president.
The recent AP-GFK poll revealed that 58 percent of Americans like President Obama, but less than a third see him as an “above average” leader of the free world.
However some Franklin County residents told 22News that they don’t agree with the results and view Obama as an ideal president.
Ted Cahill of Shelburne Falls told 22News that he thinks Obama is a great president. “I say above average because he’s trying to switch directions on a lot of things, like foreign policy. domestically he’s blocked by republicans over and over again so I don’t know if he’s going to get anything done.”
Some people like Jeremy Moses told 22News they view president Obama as an exceptional president because he’s been forthcoming on a lot of issues. “I think truly going through with healthcare reform, with stimulus….I think the job that he’s done with both the country he’s inherited and the pressure he’s been under has been pretty impressive.”
Some people also told 22News that they feel Obama’s polling data may be influenced by his race and political attacks from Republicans.
The president’s rating was up 9 points from the poll results in October during the government shutdown.
