LEDYARD, Conn. (AP) — Medical examiners will try to determine the cause of death of a man whose body was found in the Thames River in eastern Connecticut.
A worker with the Providence and Worcester Railroad Co. who was aboard a freight train spotted the body in Ledyard near the Preston line Tuesday afternoon. Police and firefighters were called to the scene and pulled the body from shallow water.
The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Farmington will be performing an autopsy to try to confirm the man’s identity and cause of death.
Police have released few details about the man. Detectives with the state police Eastern District Major Crime Squad are investigating.
