Blandford building destroyed by fire

BLANDFORD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters from Blandford and other nearby towns worked to put out a fire that destroyed a building that had just recently been converted into an apartment.

Firefighters were called to the building behind a house on Russell Stage Road just before 6:30.

Blandford Fire Chief Brian Care told 22News that the building was completely in flames when they got there. He said they had a difficult time putting out the fire because they had to ship water in, and pump it out of a pool that they had set up.

Care said that no one was living in the building at the time of the fire, but someone was just about to move in.

No one was injured, and firefighters are looking into what caused the fire.
